The men’s and women’s soccer games against visiting Palomar College Wednesday were cancelled because of excessive heat.

Game time temperatures reached about 95 degrees with a heat index rating of 93 degrees. The heat index is the temperature of the wind on hot days.

With an estimated rise of 10 to 15 degrees in heat on synthetic turf fields, the expected temperatures on the soccer field were about 110 degrees.

“The combination of the heat, humidity and field temperature played into it,” Sports Information Director Jason Kehler said.

The mens game is rescheduled for Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at home. There is no set date for the womens team to play Palomar.
