The restaurant of the week

A plate of stacked Torta Chilanga sandwich and a Jalapeno.

El Rincon Chilango is a Mexican restaurant started by a Mexican chef Jose Sanchez about 10 years ago.

I had a stacked torta chilanga, their main plate that you won’t find in any other restaurant. The torta chilanga comes with breaded steak, egg, ham, sausage, pork, head cheese, and turkey inside. I also ordered watermelon water, which was made from natural fruit. There are also different natural fruit water flavors, including strawberry, mango, pineapple, papaya, melon, coconut and others.

The restaurant is open daily, Monday thru Friday from 9a.m. to 9p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8a.m. to 9p.m. The shack is cozy, has lots of variety and offers great service.

They also have tacos and quesadillas with beef, steak, pork and alambre — one of their plate of four tortillas with beef, ham and green pepper, chile and mozzarella cheese on the top — and many other dishes.

Order tlacoyo, stuffed toasted cakes with cheese, chicharon, beans and whatever you desire.

The food is fresh, warm and yummy. It takes some time to get your food, but is well worth wait. You can call to make your order at last 20 minutes before you come in and by the time you get here it’s ready.
Mexican restaurant that gives attention to all kind of people, because everyone can find something they like in the menu and the prices are really affordable.

It’s placed on 1133 West 17th street in Santa Ana, about a mile from Santa Ana College.

For those who don’t enjoy waiting, El Rincon Chilango also takes phone orders, (714) 836- 5096.
