Sophomore midfielder Jose Angulo scored his last regular season goal as a Don as the visiting Irvine City College Lazers lost 5-1 ending Orange Empire Conference play at home.

“We got the momentum of the game early-that’s what led to the first couple of goals,” Head Coach Jose Vasquez said.

Freshman forward Luis Venegas added to his state-leading goal total. Scoring his 23rd and 24th goals of the season.

Four goals ahead of the next scorer in the state, Modesto Junior College forward Fransisco Chavez.

Angulo’s goal in the 57th minute ended a five-goal onslaught by the Dons offense. Eight sophomores move on this season from the program.

“It’s been a great journey playing here, the coaching staff is awesome,” said defenseman Antonio Solis.

Vasquez noted the games importance for the team, making it a point to play well.

“We talked to the sophomores about this being it conference wise, so lets finish strong,” Vasquez said.
