Free textbook money giveaway at ASG raffle

The Don Bookstore will be giving away $150 textbook vouchers Wednesday in a lottery-style drawing at the ASG Welcome Back Event.

The Associate Student Government and SAC President, Erlinda Martinez, will greet hundreds of students waiting for their chance to get one of 20 available vouchers. The SAC Foundation donated $3,000 to fund the raffle.

“Books are such a huge need for students,” says Cristina Romero, executive director of the SAC Foundation. The SAC foundation is pleased to see the second consecutive semester with a textbook raffle, Romero said.

Students need to be enrolled in at least nine units to be eligible.

Zahira Contreras, a full-time student, spent $400 on textbooks this fall. Students taking 12 or more units generally pay about that much. On average, Contreras says each book cost her about $80.

Ticket distributions will begin at 11:00 p.m. to 12:20 p.m. and to win you must be present during the textbook drawing at 12:20 p.m. at the SAC Plaza. Free hotdogs and drinks will also be available.
