Eight different Dons scored Tuesday in an 8-0 rout of undermanned Palomar College at home.

The Comets entered the game down four players who missed the bus, including its starting goalkeeper. As the first half was ending, Palomar drew two red cards, leaving the team with nine players on the field.

“That threw them off,” Santa Ana College Head Coach Jose Vasquez said.

Palomar Head Coach Carlos Hernandez was also serving a four game suspension.

“We were a little bit shorthanded with some players missing the bus, but I don’t know if that would have made a difference,” Palomar Assistant Coach David Whiddon said.

Midfielder Uriel Rebollar netted the first goal of the match in the 20th minute on a pass from forward Carlos Martinez. Seven other Dons added to the onslaught.

The match was rescheduled from Sept. 17th because of excessive heat. Game time temperatures swelled well above 100 degrees on the field before the two teams began play Tuesday.
