The Fine and Performing Arts Division’s Danceworks will run this weekend.

The Santa Ana College Dance Department will present Danceworks, an annual event showcasing contemporary dance numbers from the award-winning performance arts division, over the weekend.

The show blends 14 different pieces using music genres including Caribbean, jazz and rock.

Two of the dance choreographies were performed at the American College Dance Festival last year, said Heather Gillette, assistant professor of dance.

Six of the 30 dancers performing at the show were accepted into California State University, San Jose’s dance program.

Gabe Mata, a soloist at SAC, also won fourth place in the nation.

Tickets for Danceworks can be purchased at the door. Student tickets are $10, and $12 for the general public.

The performances will start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The final show will be April 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Phillips Hall Theatre.
