Santa Ana College opened the season with a loss to the El Camino College Warriors 2-1 Monday a home.

“I feel we controlled a lot of the game and aside from a few breakdowns on defense, we played very well,” Head Coach Jaymie Baquero said.

The Warriors struck first in the fourth minute when Warriors’ midfielder Diana Luna scored on a bounce pass from midfielder Kendall Collard.

“The goal was definitely opportunity, it was like picking up the trash. The were trying to kick it out and i got the rebound,” Luna said.

After coming out of halftime tied 1-1 Warriors’ Forward Kaley German scored the game- winner unassisted. It was the last goal scored in the game.

Dons’ forward Syprus Ohanesian scored the lone goal for Santa Ana College in the 29th minute.

“The momentum I had through the break definitely helped me push it through, but my teammate helped my by attracting defenders to her side,” Ohanesian said.

The Dons next play Friday at 2:00 p.m. at home against Cuyamaca College.
