Dons lose fifth game of the season

WOMEN SOCCER: Dons vs. Los Angeles Huskies
GAME DATE: Wednesday, September 5, 2012.

The Dons suffered their fourth loss on Wednesday against the visiting Los Angeles Huskies 3-2.

Forward Jessica Guzman scored the first goal early in the first half. Midfielder Vanessa Lizarragas broke through midfield with a fierce kick outside the box flying over the goalkeeper’s outstretched hands.

The Huskies were aggressive with team captain Jane Song was slapped by a yellow card game getting a yellow card . The Dons capitalized on the foul with a score by Forward Xochitl Sandoval at the beginning of the second half giving the Dons their first goal.

Alatorre scored in the last 10 minutes of the game with a box shot on the inside for the tie.

“We just need to play smarter, and we need to play harder,” Alatorre said.

Huskies Midfielder Brianna Ramirez stole the ball in the last seven minutes and went untouched to score the game-winning goal.

“I had to make the goal to pull us out of the tie and out of the safe zone,” Ramirez said.

The Dons visit the Golden West Rustlers on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
