Baseball: Streaking

The Dons rode an 11-game win-streak on the back of solid pitching and timely hitting for its ninth consecutive playoff appearance since 2004.

“We were all feeling good in the dugout. Pitchers were throwing well. The hitters were stringing together clutch hits. It all just added up,” sophomore lefty Bryan Clough said.

The string of wins started on March 30, when the Dons escaped with a 7-6 win over visiting Orange Coast.

“Momentum is the big thing. We built a lot of confidence going into the playoffs,” Clough said.

In the 11 games the Dons hit .293 as a team, while outscoring opponents 78 to 39.

“We had clutch hitting from a lot of different guys,” freshman outfielder JB Bryant said.

In nine of the 11 games, Head Coach Don Sneddon used at least three different pitchers. For the two other wins, sophomore righty Garrett Wilson tossed complete games.

“Our pitching showed up huge. They threw strikes, keeping the defense on our toes so we were ready,” Bryant said.
