Women In The War

By: Rogelio Santana

Santa Ana Public Library presents Lioness, a documentary about the first group of female American soldiers in direct combat.

The film follows the stories of the first five female soldiers to experience the front lines. Known as Team Lioness, they served together for a year during the Iraq War in 2003.

Archive footage, military interviews and journal excerpts used in the film show the female perspective of war. Their participation in gun operations violated Department of Defense policies.

The screening begins at 2 p.m. this Saturday. The library is located at 26 Civic Center Plaza.
