The opening of the world’s second Gudetame Cafe

Prior to the opening on May 4, there were about 25-30 people camping out to try this new cafe, according the owner. (Cesar Shih) / Photo by Jakki Padilla

Inspired by Sanrio’s cute lazy egg, the Japanese cafe is the second of its kind in the entire world, but the line to get inside might take between 30 minutes to a few hours.

The cute egg cafe includes a bakery and authentic Sanrio merch such as plushies, keychains, and shirts.

Their most popular food option is the Gude Katsu Egg Cheese Sandwich which is a Gudetama stamped runny egg and brioche bun with chicken katsu that melts into a creamy savory Japanese American fusion. On average, their plates range between $15-$20.

All food items include tater tots.

Their most popular drinks include the creme brulee cold brew, matcha latte and their mango milk which cost about $5-$6.
