Fall season is here, and that means it’s time to update your wardrobe without spending your entire paycheck to look like a model out of a Versace runway show. Many of these fall fashion pieces can be found at a thrift shop or your local Goodwill store. If you don’t want to shop at these second-hand stores, fast fashion stores like Zara, Forever 21 and H&M offer cheaper alternatives that are both trendy and current. With that being said, grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte and let’s dive into five of Fall 2017 season’s trends.

The Color Red –
With red being the color of the season, it appeared on several runways such as, Fendi’s, during Paris Fashion Week. The color red is a statement of femininity and power all in one. This color is symbolic, it can boost confidence and make any outfit stand out by its boldness. You can shop at any fashion store to find a red cardigan, blouse, or jeans.

Vintage Inspired Faux Fur –
This is the only item you can snag at a thrift store if you don’t want to spend a fortune.  Fast fashion stores will also offer cheaper alternatives if you want a new coat. Vintage furs have been spotted on runways like Kanye West’s Yeezy line and Marc Jacobs this autumn season. Another great place to find some lived-in coats are estate sales. Estate sales are a way of liquidating the belongings of a recently deceased person.  Of course, only if you are comfortable of purchasing a coat that has been worn previously.

Victorian Collars –
This season, Victorian Collars have been seen on runways at Kenzo and Valentino. Inspired by Pride & Prejudice, you can dress up any outfit with these beautiful blouses. Stores like Forever 21 and Free People will have cheaper alternatives for Victorian collars.

Menswear –
This season, we are borrowing from men — not boys. Menswear blazers and open-heeled loafers have ruled the streets of Paris and New York City during Fashion Week. You can easily style a blazer over a basic white t-shirt and a blue jean mini skirt. You can also rock Oxford shoes with boyfriend jeans and a cardigan. Zara offers different colors of menswear coats and pants.

Fiddler hats-
Fiddler hats, or “Cabby” hats, have been spotted on high-profile model Kaia Gerber. You can easily fashion one when you’re not in the mood to do your hair. Urban Outfitters sells the popular brand, Brixton, which is where you can find the vintage looking cabby hat worn in the 1890s. For cheaper alternatives, you can spot them at Forever 21or Forever 21.com.

As for finding these items, I recommend going to the Goodwill on Grand Avenue in Santa Ana  or the Goodwill Boutique in Huntington Beach. On Fridays,  they usually have “Deal of the Day,” which is when the tag has an additional 50% or 60% off the original price. These stores allow debit and credit. A tip upon arriving, come with an open mind because you will never know what you may find.
