Hotline: Bluegrass bust

ALBUM: The Carpenter.
BAND: The Avett Brothers.

While the Avett Brother’s new album The Carpenter delivers melodically, the lyrics are trite and clichéd. The blended orchestration of bluegrass and folk-rock accompanied with drab lyrics turns listeners off.

The album’s only redeeming feature is the fast-paced track Geraldine, with its politically-charged lyrics in stark contrast to the rest of the album. This is the type of song that the Avett Brothers should try to emulate in the future.
