Fullerton College’s women’s water polo team defeated the Dons 18-8 at home Wednesday Oct. 25, showing improvement for the young team while adding to their 12-game losing streak.

Attacker Emy Castaneda made five of SAC’s eight goals, a new game-high for the freshman.

“If I don’t do my best, it makes it harder for my teammates,” Castaneda said.

The Hornets pummeled the Dons with 15 goals in the first half, while Hornets goalie Shannon Tully only allowed two shots past her.

The Dons picked up the slack in the second half, scoring four balls to the net that was assisted by Margo and freshman Halen Daniel. Vanessa Camino and Daniel put in a goal each.

Fullerton College countered with three goals to end the game.

“The goal is for women to walk away with the win,” water polo coach Al Reyes said.
