The men’s cross-country team finished 12th overall at the state championship in Fresno Nov. 21.

Led by freshman Paulino Sanchez, who crossed the finish line at 21:01 in the men’s 4-mile run, the Dons top 15 finish was the worst finish all season.

The team placed second in the Santa Ana College-hosted Brubaker Invitational at Irvine Park in October.

Sophomore Geovany Garcia came in second with a 21:11.5 time, good for 27th overall. Garcia came in second at the Palomar Invitational to kick off the season. He was the first community college runner to cross the finish line at the Titan Invitational, where he turned in a time of 25:31.95. SAC was the only community college to compete in the race.

Sophomore Edwin Ortiz-Lopez came in third for the Dons at 58th place overall with a 22:30.9 time. It was the second time Ortiz-Lopez rounded out the top three for the Dons. He came in third at the Brubaker for SAC, eighth overall.
