Fullerton College defeated Sa¬nta Ana College, 3-1, Tuesday, in the Dons’ final home game of the season.

Santa Ana goalkeeper Stephanie Hernandez missed Monday’s practice and did not start against the visiting Hornets.

“I had work yesterday, and called in,” Hernandez said. “But by the time I made it to the field practice was over.”

Instead, Dons goalkeeper Hannah Franks make her first start of the season.

“Hannah has been playing well in practice and earned the opportunity to start today,” SAC Head Coach Jodi Coffman said.

Fullerton College scored quickly, less than two minutes into the game. The Hornets added a second goal near the 20-minute mark. Fullerton scored an insurance goal in the 45th minute when a listless SAC defense could not clear the ball from its goalie box.

“The team played a bad first half,” Franks said. “We were too confident after our 5-0 win last time we played at Fullerton College.”

The Dons scored their lone goal of the game in the 74th minute.

“We showed more energy and improved our play in the second half,” Coffman said.

After the loss SAC’s record fell to (5-13-2) overall and (4-9-2) in conference play.

The Dons’ final conference game of the season is Friday Nov.11, as the team visits the Golden West Rustlers.
