Game Date: October 5, 2011.

The visiting Orange Coast College Pirates sailed away with a 25-5 victory Wednesday, as the Santa Ana College Dons played without starting goalie Meagan Thomas, who is out with a broken hand.

“The game felt fantastic, but we need to step up our defense,” Head Coach Al Reyes said. “We burned our time outs very fast, and we only have one substitute since Thomas is out.”

Freshman Nicole Hite scored the first goal of the match within the first few minutes, giving the Dons an early lead.

Following the goal, the Pirates scored seven consecutive goals ending the first quarter with an 8-2 advantage.

“Our counter attack went well,” said Pirates sophomore Kristen Peters.

In the second quarter, the Pirates scored six goals to the Dons’ two, finishing the first half, 14-4.

The Dons’ next match is Friday as the team participates in the Ventura Tournament over the weekend.
