Sprinting for the finish line

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD:

The Santa Ana College women’s track and field team is heading down the home stretch of the season.

Third-year coach Miriam Mitzel has worked with a roster of only 16 athletes competing this season but has had some positive results.

“It’s going well … in fact, we think that we might place, in some events, in the top three,” Mitzel said.

In a dual meet against Saddleback College, freshman Susana Marquez won the 1,500-meter and placed second in the 3,000. Felix led the way in the field events, placing third in the hammer throw, fourth in the javelin and sixth in the shot put.
