The Associated Student Government along with Circle K, a club affiliated with Kiwanis Santa Ana, are sponsoring a memorial paying tribute to the lives lost during the 9/11 attacks.
This year marks the 14th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks that took thousands of lives.
Flags were placed near the fountain on campus spelling the words ‘’United We Stand’’ and ‘’Stay Strong.’’ ASG started placing the flags in 2011 to commemorate the 10-year anniversary. ASG planned to do it only that one time but Minhchau Chau, the former president of Circle K Club, asked to continue placing flags. It became a tradition.
The flags were sponsored by ASG, which has been providing them every year since 2011, at the request of the Circle K Club.
“It seemed like it was a right thing to do,’’ Chau said. ‘’It’s a huge part of our history and we should remember it not just for 10 years or 50. 9/11 was a catalyst for a lot of change in our life and nations.”
