Visiting Grossmont College wins in straight sets

WOMEN’s VOLLEYBALL.
Game date: Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

Visiting Grossmont College pummeled Santa Ana College’s women’s volleyball team on Wednesday defeating the Dons in straight sets.

Grossmont has not dropped a set in the last three matches.

Early in the first two sets the Dons strung together late comebacks only to lose each of the sets 25-20 and 25-21.

The No. 5 Griffins (9-1) won the third set 25-18.

“We were inconsistent. We made a lot of unforced errors when we got to the 20 point mark,” said Head Coach Troy Abbey. “We kind of gave those games away.”

The Dons’ next match is at 6 p.m. Friday at Irvine Valley College.
