Dons Fall in OEC Playoffs

VOLLEY

By Jorge Campos

The inaugural season of sand volleyball came to an end after the Dons dropped back-to-back matches in straight sets to Grossmont and El Camino College in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association Team Championships.

Santa Ana College finished with a 4-7 record in the powerhouse Orange Empire Conference, which had three teams in the final four: Golden West College, El Camino College and Irvine Valley College.

The Lasers swept both the team and individual state championships, following an indoor title in the fall. IVC took all three individual championships. The scores weren’t even close.

“We competed against IVC. They are like the perennial champs in volleyball. So for us to play against them, and play well, that’s awesome,” freshman Chloe Anderson said.
