Dons Get Swept By Cerritos In Home Opener

The Dons were swept in straight sets in their home opener against the Cerritos College Falcons on Friday.

The Dons launched an attack with three consecutive points before the Falcons countered to regain the lead following a 3-3 tie to start the first set.

In the second set, the Dons came back to tie the score at 8-8. The Dons led 13-11 before the Falcons took five of the next six points to run away with the set 16-25.

Right side hitter Fernanda Ruiz started off the third period for The Dons picking up a kill and a block for a 2-0 lead that was cut down by another Cerritos attack. The Falcons keept their lead to complete the sweep 3-0.

“We ‘re not a huge team in size, so serving and defense needs to be what we do.” Coach Troy Abbey said.
