Despite multiple scoring opportunities, the Dons’ women’s soccer team opened the

new season with a loss to the visiting Moorpark Raiders.

“We missed some perfect opportunities. Early in the game, Syprus missed a shot

that I know she could have made. But that’s just the first game jitters, we played a

great game and those things will be worked out through out the season,” Santa Ana

College Head Coach Jose Vasquez said.

At the start of the second half, the Dons came out gassed with a slow defense that

felt non-existent at times.

Bricella Meza, a Moorpark defender, scored the first goal at the start of the second

half off of an assist from sophomore Samantha Corbin.

“It was a designed play we had been practicing the week before, and without a

presence of the goal keeper, it was an easy goal,” Head Coach Eric Privat said.

The Dons will visit East Los Angeles on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m.
