Think outside tradition this Valentine’s Day.
A romantic hike ending with a picnic provides an intimate environment. Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach offers an ocean view from multiple spots to lay out a blanket for a sunset picnic on a hiking trail. The only cost would be parking, which is $15.
Rock climbing is a good workout, and a pair can learn about each other in an active environment. Places like Sender One Climbing, Yoga, and Fitness in Santa Ana offer several activities, while The Factory Bouldering in Orange features bouldering exclusively.
Go-kart racing produces a fast paced environment perfect for thrill seeking dates. Friendly competition is always fun, and K1 Speed in Anaheim gives a new meaning to speed dating by letting racers see their date as a companion off the track and a competitor on it. They also have arcade games and a snack bar with foods like nachos, hot dogs and beef jerky for a quick pit stop.
Taking a cooking class together then eating the finished product is cheaper than a restaurant and can offer a better experience. Learning to cook something new will make for memories topping any sit down dinner.
When you stray from traditional Feb. 14 activities and exit your comfort zones, different sides of people emerge that make the date less intimidating and more memorable. Have a happy Valentines Day!
