Dons Lose on the Road

Mt. San Antonio College defeated the Dons soundly by 34-6 Wednesday, winning the first four matches in a row.

At 133 Mt. SAC’s Kevin Kelly defeated SAC’s Elesio Medina 5-4. In the 141 class Mt. SAC’s Kevin Kelly defeated Don wrestler Ronnie Collister 10-8.

The Dons were trailing 18-0 heading into the 157lb match.

Richie Miranda finally got SAC on the scoreboard when he defeated Jaime Jimenez 7-4, brining the score to 3-18.

“I was glad to get the win,” Miranda said.

At 174, SAC’s Jaime Macias kept up the momentum, defeating the Mounties Kolton Martin by 7-1.

The Dons went winless in the next three matches at 184 as Raul Hernandez lost 2-3, Jonathan Fraser lost 4-16 at 197, and heavyweight Abraham Aguilar was pinned, resulting in a final team score of 6-34.

“We did good. We went out and competed,” Mt. SAC Head Coach David Rivera said.

In spite of the loss, Dons head coach Vince Silva was able to se progress overall.

“I saw some positives in Richie Miranda and in Ronnie Collister who wrestled up. I think our conditioning is second to none,” Silva said.

The Dons travel to Rio Hondo next Wednesday before returning home to face Cerritos on November 12.
