When campus safety officers viewed tapes of the incident, they observed the driver pulling into the Santa Ana College parking lot moments after the accident.

Around the same time Wednesday, two SAC officers were waiting for her.

“We engaged her and called the police department and asked them if they wanted to respond. They came when we had bird in hand,” District Safety and Security Supervisor Lt. James Wooley said.

Campus security detained her until police arrived about 10 minutes later, Wooley said.

Campus security videos show the girl crossing several lanes of traffic against a red light. The girl was struck twice.

The first driver, Adan Camacho, 32, was heading south on Bristol Street, past the intersection of 17th Street, when he clipped a girl who witnesses say appeared to be jaywalking. The impact launched her into the outside lane where she was hit again by the black Cadillac.

She stayed at the accident to talk to police, but did not tell officials that she hit the girl.

Camacho was arrested shortly after the accident and charged with felony hit-and-run and driving without a license.

The pedestrian was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with leg injuries and released Tuesday.

  1. It’s the kid’s fault, but the drivers should not have hit-and-run. It’s unfortunate how the act of one stupid person have now affected several people.
