Residents: Avoid Going Up in Smog

Santa Ana was highlighted as one of the most polluted cities in Orange County, according to a report and map released by the California Environmental Protection Agency.

With pollution causing effects like asthma and diminished lung funtion, Santaneros should take precautions to minimize their intake of toxins while exercising this summer.

For those with mobile phones, an app called the State of the Air can give warnings about days that are especially hazy. If a phone isn’t handy, avoiding major roads and freeways can help, according to the American Lung Association. —Alex Olivares
