Zimmerman Case Is Not About Guns

Following charges of aggravated assault, media outlets have emphasized the number of guns George Zimmerman owns, with TMZ and others referring to the five guns and about 100 rounds of ammunitionas a “stockpile.”

Sensible gun owners know this isn’t accurate. Media outlets have misplaced the focus of this story — which is domestic violence.

Owning guns is an American right. Portraying it like it’s illegal in a highly controversial case like Zimmerman’s creates an atmosphere of fear where irrational decisions about gun control could be made.
