Bristol widened, still gridlocked

View from the ground toward a very blue sky of the metal rod holding the Bristol Street sign and traffic lights.

LOCAL TRAFFIC:

After millions of dollars and months of construction, rush hour traffic headed south on Bristol near SAC still moves at a trickle.

The construction is part of the $88 million Bristol Corridor Widening Project, adding two lanes at 17th Street.

The extra lanes prevent commuters from getting stuck behind buses and helps ease the problem of cars waiting for crossing pedestrians.

Congestion near two primary schools still hinders travel on Bristol. Until new routes are provided to ease the flow of vehicles, traffic will continue to be a necessary evil on Bristol Street.
