Searching Cellulars

In a case that effects the inside of most Americans’ pockets, the Supreme Court is deciding whether cell phone searches require a warrant.

During an arrest, officers can search cell phones, creating virtual paper trails of places visited, people contacted and calls made. Police have used it to check criminal activity.

Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a 2011 bill that would have prohibited police searching cell phones.
