Bowers Museum presents Il Primo Incarico (The First Assignment) May 18.

The film, which is set in 1953 Southern Italy, follows the story of a young teacher in a new town struggling to connect with the local children, all while balancing a long-distance relationship with an aristocratic boyfriend who has yet to ask for her hand in marriage. It first aired at the Venice Film Festival in 2010.

The viewing runs from 1:30 – 4 p.m. Admission is $10 or $5 for students with a valid ID.
