T.C. Boyle’s The Tortilla Curtain is Santa Ana College’s 2013 book of the year.

“We chose it because of its importance and readability,” Librarian Yolanda Garcia said.

Themes from The Help, the 2012 book of the year, influenced events across campus, including theater productions and

campus art exhibits.

The Tortilla Curtain follows a clash of cultures between a middle class Caucasian family and a poor Mexican family

living in California.
