Reyna Jabs at Pulido’s Past

By Jovany Leon

Santa Ana mayor Miguel Pulido’s top challenger brought up his legal issues during a candidate forum and debate this month at the Rancho Santiago Community College District headquarters.

“The District Attorney says when they are done with the investigation, they’re going to press charges,” Councilmember Roman Reyna said. “I am tired of this craziness, and this is exactly why I’m running for mayor today.”

Pulido is under investigation by the Orange County District Attorney for a property deal he made with NAPA OC Auto Parts president Rupen James Akoubian, as first reported by Voice of OC.

He purchased the property from Akoubian for $230,000 below market value and flipped it for a $197,000 profit the same year.

Pulido is seeking his 11th term.

Eddie Mireles, a former gang member, was not impressed.

“All these guys, I’ve never seen them in neighborhoods, going out and talking to gang members or talking about drive-bys,” Mireles said.
