The Dons dropped a close game to the visiting Rio Hondo Roadrunners 2-1 Tuesday after midfielder Joshua Cuevas scored a late goal to break a 1-1 deadlock.

“Not panicking, it’s preseason, we’re finding ourselves, it’s gonna take a while,” Santa Ana College Head Coach Jose Vasquez said.

Roadrunners forward Nicholas Knapp netted the first goal in the 8th minute on a header rebounded off Dons goalkeeper Ismael Rivera.

Dons midfielder Dong Beom Seo scored the equalizer on a header in the 61st minute when Carlos Herrera crossed the ball through the Roadrunner zone, bouncing past Rio Hondo’s goal keeper Ivan Barranco. It was Seo’s first goal.

“When they scored to tie it, we started playing a little better,” Rio Hondo’s Head Coach Orlando Brenes said.

The game was pushed back half an hour, after the field temperatures hit 119 degrees.

“I was a little hesitant to come over here to play under these extremes,” Brenes said.

The Dons next home game will be Friday at El Camino College at 4 p.m.
