SOFTBALL: SAC vs. Fullerton College.

The Dons squished the visiting Fullerton College Hornets Tuesday, 8-0, invoking the mercy rule after five innings.
Sophomore Genna Main reached on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fifth to bring in sophomore Becky Poirier from third base, ending the game.
Santa Ana College scored five runs on five hits in the second. Sophomore Mina Pavao hit a RBI-double, scoring freshman Heather Robertson. Following a single and a walk to load the bases, freshman Danielle Hernandez hit a three-run triple to right field. Freshman Sabrina Perez knocked in Hernandez with a double to right.
“We put together quality at-bats, played solid defense and came out fighting,” Co-Head Coach Jessica Rapoza said.
Devon Rodriguez pitched a five-inning, complete game shutout, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two, improving her record to 7-1.
“The team game plan was to go out and play like we know how to and go to battle and stay focused the whole game,” Rodriquez said.
Hornets’ starter Shailee Boehmer (1-8) pitched 1.2 innings while giving six runs, five earned, on five hits, walking one and striking out one. Alyssa Felipe went 2.2 innings giving up two runs on two hits, while walking four.
Fullerton falls to 2-7 in the Orange Empire Conference, 4-16 overall.
The game was rescheduled from a March 8 rainout.
The Dons (14-7 overall, 4-5 OEC) host Orange Coast College today at 3 p.m.
