Santa Ana College hired a new head coach and associate professor this summer.

Former El Camino College head coach Jaymie Baquero brings 14 years of coaching experience to the pitch, as she joins the kinesiology department. She takes over a team that finished 3-15-3 overall in 2013.

Baquero helped coach an El Camino team that finished with a 2-15-3 record in the South Coast Conference.

Starting as a volunteer coach seven years ago, Baquero went on to fill multiple positions for the Warriors, her community college alma mater. She was promoted to co-head coach of the women’s soccer team in 2011.

Baquero is undaunted and eager to use her knowledge to improve the Dons’ fortunes on the field and in the classroom.

“I think winning one more game, tying one more game, which equals two less losses, would be a great start,” Baquero said.
