The Dons were trampled by the visiting Bakersfield College Renegade’s dominant run game Sept. 7, losing 24-9 in the season opener.
Renegades Running Backs Preston Hodges and Kwame Johnson led the team to the victory with a combined 178 rushing-yards and two touchdowns.
“We knew that Hodges was going to have a great game. We thought if we could give him a couple creases and a couple seams, he’s that type of player that can make some things happen,” Bakersfield Head Coach Jeff Chudy said.
The Dons offense struggled to find its footing and falling short on every scoring drive ending the game without a touchdown and two interceptions thrown by freshman Quarterback Mike Chislock.
“He played ok, and he’ll play better then that. Chislock is a great player and its like I told the guys before, these games are a lot faster then practice,” SAC Head Coach Geoff Jones said.
The Dons will visit the College of the Desert Roadrunners Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.
