Waivers help combat fee hike

CAMPUS:

The $10 tuition hike enacted over the summer has increased the number of fee waiver awards by about nine percent.

“Many of these students who may have qualified last year and did not apply, did apply this year,” Robert Manson, associate dean of financial aid, said.

Last year about 12,000 recipients were awarded the BOG fee waiver.

This year it is up to about 13,100.

About 800 returning students who did not apply for it last year received the fee waiver, financial aid officials said.
