It is no longer a requirement to have graduated from Santa Ana Unified School District to be eligible for Santa Ana College’s Promise Program. An addition that expands the Memorandum of Understanding for SAC Promise students transferring to California State University, Fullerton has passed.

“At one point we felt like we were leaving out those students who were not from Santa Ana Unified and that we were only serving Santa Ana Unified,” said Student Services Coordinator of the SAC Promise Program Javier Garcia. “Now it is inclusive to all of the program students.”

SAC Promise students must be first-time, full-time college students, join the program in their first year enrolling at the college and must take more than 50% of their credits from SAC. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 to meet CSUF transfer eligibility. And, students must transfer to CSUF within five years of enrolling at SAC.

“What it means is that students who are graduating high school in 2025 coming to SAC immediately, will get the guaranteed admissions to Cal State Fullerton,” said Garcia.

Established in 2015, the MOU included both the universities of Fullerton and Irvine. In 2025, CSUF remains as the only guaranteed transfer admission for SAC students after UCI stopped back in Fall 2023.

According to SAC president Annebelle Nery at the RSCCD board of trustees meeting Monday, Vision 2030 of the Chancellor’s Office aims to increase certificates, degrees and transfers. The addendum is part of this initiative to boost transfers.

For more information students can reach out to the SAC Promise Center located in the Administration Building in Room S-107.
