The Dons women’s track and field team hits the track in 2014 looking to take the SoCal prelims while breaking a record or two in the process.

“We have one that, if she stays healthy, can break the record for the steeplechase,” Head Coach Miriam Mitzel said.

The steeplechase is among the most grueling track events. It’s a 3,000-meter race that requires runners to clear four barriers like hurdles, and a water pit while running a lap around a 400-meter track. Santa Ana College freshman Jazmin Avila is the standout in that event.
