CAMPUS:
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
— by Jamie Ford.
Three events in the coming weeks will celebrate Santa Ana College’s annual Book of the Year program.
Written by Jamie Ford, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet focuses on the lives of Henry Lee and Keiko Okabe, who meet at a young age but become separated in concentration camps during World War II.
The novel was picked to coincide with SAC’s efforts to locate former Japanese American students whose college education was interrupted by the events of World War II.
The panel Lives Before, During and After E.O. 9066: Oral Testimonies of Former Japanese American Internees, starts at 10 a.m. in Phillips Hall on Thursday.
Cal State Fullerton Associate Professor of Asian American Studies Thomas Fujita-Rony will lecture April 19 in room D-101 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Author Jamie Ford will also speak in Phillips Hall May 3.
Copies of the book are available to rent from the library. Used copies are for sale at the Don Bookstore for $9.50, while new copies are $15.
