Dunlap Hall is scheduled to reopen in spring of next year following a one-and-a-half year completion delay due to roof leaks.
Construction crews are working to renovate and replace the guardrails around the pedestrian walkways on all levels of Dunlap, as well as adding two elevators that no longer require card key access and a new stairway.
Other updates include new lighting in the building, re-painted classrooms, new carpets in some classrooms, efficient energy management systems with better HVAC and new bathrooms, facilities manager Mark Wheeler said.
Beginning in October, the roof on the four-story building, located at the southeast side of campus, will be replaced. The work will continue until the end of 2015.
All faculty offices and classes currently being housed in The Village will move back into the building during winter break, in preparation for the spring semester.
The projected cost of the renovation is $17.22 million.
