A fire alarm malfunction forced thousands of people to evacuate campus buildings twice Feb. 26, Campus Safety officials said.
Strobe lights flashed for a preplanned 10 a.m. fire drill, but sounding alarms did not make any noise, said District Safety and Security Supervisor Lt. James Wooley.
That prompted safety officers to redo the fire drill, which caused confusion. When the alarms went off again, dozens filed out of the C-Building and A-Building, despite an announcement that was made telling them not to.
