Dons Extend Losing Streak to 10 Games

The Dons lost to visiting Cypress College in straight sets Wednesday, for the sixth match in a row.
“Tonight I think it was hard because they had really strong hitters and i feel like it was hard for us to get the blocks on them,” sophomore Chloe Anderson said.
After jumping out to an early 5-2 lead in the first set, the Dons only scored five more points, losing the set 25-10.
The Chargers continued the momentum.
Cypress went up 7-1 to start the second set. The Dons battled to within three points, trailing 9-6, before Cypress took a 16-6 lead. The Dons scored four of the next five points before the Chargers won the set 25-11.
“They were pretty good,” sophomore Madison Logan said.
In the third set the Dons kept the score close, almost tying twice. But Cypress would win the set 25-16.
“ We did pretty good, we could have done better I’ve seen our best and this wasn’t our best,” said Cypress freshman Rockelle Gholson.
The loss extends the Dons losing streak to 10 matches, while dropping its record to 1-16 overall and 0-10 in conference. Cypress improves to 17-7 overall and 8-2 in conference.
The Dons play next at Orange Coast College Friday at 6 p.m.
