Forward Leonardo Contreras’ two second half goals Saturday propelled the Dons to a 3-0 playoff victory over the visiting San Diego City College Knights.

“Its adrenaline all the time, 90 minutes of adrenaline. Of course when you’re losing you don’t have that, but we finished good and I’m glad about that,” Contreras said.

Contreras headed in a goal in the 51st minute on an assist from Lopez, His second assist of the game. Contreras also scored on a breakaway pass from Defender Omar Perez one minute into stoppage time, sealing the match for the Dons at 3-0.

“Can’t say enough about Leo [Contreras]. That guy is the complete package, there is a reason why he is MVP of our conference,” Vasquez said.

The first playoff goal in the new soccer complex was scored by the state leader, Forward Luis Venegas in the 32nd minute off an assist from Midfielder Jovanny Lopez. Venegas now has 25 goals on the season, which puts him nine goals ahead of the next player Fullerton City College Forward Jose Montes De Oca.

“He [Venegas] makes a huge difference on our team,” Head Coach Jose Vasquez said.

The Dons host the Los Angeles Harbor College Seahawks Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs.
